CSOs Reject Cllr Jonathan Massaquoi as Head of WECC; But WECC Secretariat Term it as a Feud to Undermine the fight against Impunity

Monrovia, Liberia – At least Seventy-six civil society organizations in the human rights community have vehemently rejected the appointment of Cllr Jonathan Massaquio as Executive Director with in the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

Recently Cllr. Massaquoi was nominated by Liberia head of state Joseph Boakai to lead the Office of the War and Economic Crimes Court establishment in the country.

During the weekend, the coalition spokesperson Adama Dempster disclosed to Reporters at a press conference that the coalition is concerned about rumors that Cllr. Massaquoi is representing Agnes Reeves Taylor, the former wife of Liberia’s ex-President Charles Taylor.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the War and Economic Crimes Court has debunked the allegations made by the 76 civil society institutions, stating that the allegations against the head of ECC has the ability to undermine the strives being made by the nation to end the culture of impunity.
