Monrovia, Liberia – The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced an emergency National Executive Committee meeting, scheduled for Wednesday at 2 PM at the party’s headquarters. The meeting, chaired by National Chairman Janga Augustus Kowo, will include key stakeholders to address what the party describes as the “current anarchy” under President Joseph Boakai’s leadership.

In a bold statement ahead of the meeting, CDC reaffirmed its unwavering support for the recent Supreme Court ruling that they claim recognizes Koffa as the duly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives. The party criticized Boakai’s administration, accusing it of plunging the nation into turmoil.

“The CDC categorically stands with the ruling of the Supreme Court and recognizes Koffa as the rightful Speaker,” said Jefferson T. Koijee, the party’s Secretary General.

The meeting’s agenda reportedly includes discussing measures to mobilize the citizenry against what the CDC calls the “illegitimate presidency” of Joseph Boakai. According to the party, a resolution will be adopted urging Liberians to reject Boakai’s authority—a move they intend to formally communicate to international stakeholders, including the African Union, ECOWAS, the United Nations, and the U.S. Embassy.

The CDC’s fiery rhetoric comes with a grim forecast for the holiday season. “We call on our people to get prepared to celebrate a national mournful Christmas,” Koijee stated, hinting at looming civil disobedience.

This development underscores rising political tensions in the country, with both sides trading accusations over governance and the rule of law. As Liberians await the outcomes of Wednesday’s meeting, all eyes will be on the CDC’s next moves.
