MONROVIA – The Government of Liberia has taken delivery of the first batch of modern agricultural machinery at the Freeport of Monrovia, in a major boost for the country’s agriculture sector.
Disclosing the arrival at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, said the first consignment includes twenty tractor heads, eight semi-trailers, and eight towing vehicles.
Deputy Minister Sando announced that the final batch of machinery is expected to arrive later this month, describing the development as a game-changer for Liberian farmers.
According to him, the importation of the equipment is part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, which prioritizes agricultural mechanization as a key pillar to increase productivity and achieve food security.
“This demonstrates government’s unwavering commitment to supporting Liberian farmers and transforming agriculture from subsistence to mechanized,” Sando stated.
He noted that the arrival of the machines will significantly improve farming activities, reduce manual labor, and help Liberia attain self-sufficiency in food production.
