MONROVIA – The Vice Chairman of the Liberia National Commission on Arms (LiNCA), Atty. Vahkpanah B. V. Wymon, has issued a stern warning to Liberians in possession of unregistered firearms: Register now or face the full weight of the law.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) regular press briefing on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Atty. Wymon disclosed that the government has officially commenced the registration of privately-owned arms across the country.
According to him, the exercise is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to properly document and regulate all firearms in circulation.
“Individuals who will refuse to register their arms will be dealt with in compliance with the laws,” Atty. Wymon warned.
He however declined to disclose the number of firearms registered so far since the Commission announced the exercise.
The LiNCA Vice Chairman emphasized that the registration drive is part of government’s broader strategy to promote peace and security, curb the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, and ensure accountability in the possession and use of firearms.
He is calling on all ordinary Liberians who own arms to take advantage of the process and comply.
