Congo Town, Monrovia – Following the white coat ceremony honoring 29 first-year students for the 2024-2025 academic year at Achilles Mario Dogliotti College of Medicine and Health Sciences, a mysterious fire broke out. This fire caused damage to one of the two dormitories on the college campus in Fendell, Louisiana, near Monrovia.
Highlighting the concerned through a News conference on Thursday, August, 29, 2024 at the EJS ministerial complex in Cong Town, the Chief Executive officer of Better future foundation Rev. Augustine S. Akoi narrated that the ugly situation occured on Saturday, 13th July, 2024, created panic among students and staffs of the medical college, causing some of them to run helter_ shelter for safety as other horribly departed the college campus with their personal belongings.

The Civil society and human rights activists disclosed that the fireoutbreak has seriously impacted the learning of the first year medical students.
The BFF president, at the same time used the occasion to called for thorough investigation as relate to the cause of the fire outbreak, and urged the Government of Liberia, international development partners and other educational stakeholders to quickly intervene by repairing the damage facilities of the medical college including broken windows and doors and the restoration of electrical wiring system on the college campus.
The Civil society however described the deprived learning conditions faced by students of the Achille Mario Dogliotti college of Medicine and Health sciences of the UL.
Rev, Akoi also disclosed that the students including males and females are learning without much needed accessibility to Electricity, pure and safe drinking water, as well as as adequate security, personal to safeguard the college campus.
For his part the students Leader of the A.M Dogliotti college of Medicine and Health sciences Mr, Bill Harris, underscored the need and significance for rapid intervention by Government in ameliorating the gloomy learning situation at the state_ own medical college.
Meanwhile the Chief Executive officer of Better future foundation is calling on the Government of Liberia to grant A.M Dogliotti college of Medicine finical autonomous status to ensure effective operational and independence.
