The Keynote Speaker of BlueCrest University College’s 11th Graduation Ceremony, Deputy Minister for Trade and Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Wilmont Reeves, inspired graduates to become innovators and leaders of change.
Addressing the graduates over the weekend at the Congo Town campus on March 22, 2025, Minister Reeves challenged them to embrace a mindset of transformation—one that would help change the destiny of Liberia and the world at large.
“Do not stand on the sidelines and be mere followers,” he urged. “Step forward and lead with knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving global landscape filled with countless possibilities.”
Reeves emphasized that the most powerful asset each graduate possesses is themselves—their ideas, creativity, and courage to take action. “Seek opportunities and create them,” he added. “Your future—and that of Liberia—depends on your willingness to innovate and lead.”
He encouraged the graduates not to wait to be employed but to become employers and strive for excellence. “Liberia needs entrepreneurs and visionaries. Our nation’s transformation lies not in the government’s ability to create jobs, but in your ability to create businesses, drive innovation, and fuel economic growth,” he said.
Minister Reeves further stressed that the private sector is the backbone of any prosperous nation. “Liberia must be no exception to this reality. If we are to move forward, we must foster an entrepreneurial culture that empowers young people to build, innovate, and lead,” he stated.
He concluded by urging the graduates to build an entrepreneurial mindset, be resilient, stay innovative, and have the courage to challenge the status quo. “See challenges as opportunities,” Minister Reeves advised. “That is how you will shape the future.”
