A Bill to Impeach President Boakai Over Violation of Appointments at Tenure positions underway; as Opposition Lawmaker Frank Saah Foko Rallies Members of the House

Monrovia, Liberia- In the wake of controversial appointments into tenure positions by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Montserrado county Electoral District Number #9 Representative Frank Saah Foko has disclosed plans for the impeachment of the Liberian Leader.

It’s barely one month one week since the president assumed office on January 24, 2024.

The Coalition for Democratic Change lawmaker said he’s having consultation with some members of Parliament to submit a Bill of impeachment to the Plenary of the House of Representatives beginning Thursday February 29 2024, for reportedly violating the Laws and constitution of the country.

The Chair on Maritime at the House of Representatives argued that President Boakai violated the Laws by appointing his supporters into tenure positions which includes LTA, NIR, National Road funds of Liberia and the subsequent appointment of former Grand Bassa county Senator Jonathan Karpey as head of the port of Bassa are sufficient reasons why the Liberian Leader should be impeached by the 55th Legislature.

In an interview with Journalists, the former ruling CDC Lawmaker lemanted that the Liberian Leader have convinced the public within one month of his Administration that he is incapacitated to govern the state.

Representative Foko said the failure of the President to attend two high profile regional block meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral relationships when other Africans head of states are making the case of their respective countries is counter-productive to progress of the nation.

He however frowned upon the Liberian Leader for requesting the GAC to audit the Central Bank of Liberia which he said the president don’t have the authority to carryout such functions as CBL have private accounts which can’t be disclosed to the public for security reasons.

Representative Foko at the same time banged the legal advisor to the President Cllr. Bushuben Keita for statement made recently in an Executive Mansion press briefing about the cabinet decision to submit a Bill before the 55th National Legislature for the termination of all tenure positions and those who were actively involved with campaign activities Will be dismissed without pay by going against the tenure laws.

Meanwhile, the Montserrado County District #9 Representative is calling on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to publish his assets as means of promoting accountability and integrity in the society.
