Liberia Opens Applications for Young Professional Development Fellowship

Monrovia, Liberia — The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has announced the opening of applications for the second cohort of its Young Professional Development Fellow Program, an initiative aimed at equipping young Liberians with practical experience in government operations and national development planning.

According to the Ministry, the fellowship will select 25 young Liberians, including college students and high school graduates, to participate in a structured nine-month professional development program designed to build capacity among the country’s emerging workforce. The program is expected to provide participants with direct exposure to public sector governance, economic management, and policy development.

Officials said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader effort to nurture a new generation of professionals capable of contributing to Liberia’s economic growth and institutional strengthening. Participants will benefit from mentorship opportunities, hands-on training, and practical engagement with the Ministry’s day-to-day operations.

The fellowship program will run for nine months, with applications opening on March 6, 2026, and closing on March 20, 2026. Selected candidates are expected to begin the internship on April 1, 2026.

Eligibility requirements include high school graduates with a West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or its equivalent, as well as college students currently enrolled in universities. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and contribute to national development efforts.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend, which will be determined based on their educational level during the duration of the program.

Interested applicants are required to submit a cover letter, résumé or curriculum vitae, and supporting documents confirming eligibility via email to hrservices@mfdp.gov.lr. The Ministry noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The Ministry further encouraged persons with disabilities to apply, underscoring its commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity within the program.

Through the Young Professional Development Fellow Program, the Ministry hopes to cultivate skilled professionals who can play a critical role in shaping Liberia’s economic future and strengthening both the public and private sectors.
