Temple of Justice – The Supreme Court of Liberia has overturned the convictions of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and three of her family members, clearing them of all charges.
This decision reverses the earlier verdict by Criminal Court A, which had convicted them of murder, criminal conspiracy, and false reporting to law enforcement.
The Supreme Court’s ruling states: “In light of the preceding, the lower court’s decision affirming the jury’s verdict is overturned, and the defendants are to be acquitted of all charges and released immediately.”
These charges originated from the tragic killing of Charloe Musu, a family member, at their Brewerville residence on February 22, 2023. Following a months-long trial, the jury had found Scott and her co-defendants guilty, leading to their imprisonment at Monrovia Central Prison after their sentencing on January 9, 2024.
The Supreme Court’s ruling means that Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott and the others are now exonerated and free.
