Monrovia – A senior police officer told the court Friday that a suspected drug network linked to the case against ex-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor discussed killing former President George Weah.
Witness Repheal Wilson, acting head of Police Crime Services, gave the testimony at the Monrovia City Court during Howard-Taylor’s preliminary hearing.
Wilson said investigators uncovered the alleged assassination talk while probing the group, which police say operated in Liberia, Dubai, Nigeria and other places between 2021 and 2024.
He said the group sought protection from Howard-Taylor because she was vice president at the time.
But police showed no video, paper, or other proof in court Friday to back the killing claim. Wilson has not yet faced cross-examination.
Howard-Taylor and her co-defendants deny the allegations.
