With support from African Group of Negotiators Expert support (AGNES) and African Union Development Agency, CMWAPPC ends climate change dialogue with chairs and Parliamentarians

Monrovia, Liberia – As part of efforts aimed at addressing Climate themes,West African parliamentarians portfolio Committees on Environment, climate change, Agriculture and National Resources concludes Regional forum on oversights in climate Action, Accountability and Reporting in Monrovia.

The event which took place recently was hosted by the Liberian Legislature in collaboration with the African Group of Negotiators Expert support (AGNES) and supported by the African union Development Agency (AUDA_NEPAD), with Representatives from twelve (12 ) west African Parliaments.

Speaking at the climax of the two days Legasilitatives forum, the senate committee chair on Mines Energy and Resources, senator Simeon Boima Taylor urged his fellow colleagues to enhanced collaboration and cooperation between the Executive and the Parliament in addressing climate change issues.

The Grand Cape Mount county senator cautioned parliamentarians to design a leadership strategy which will designate champions on climate within national and regional Legislatures as appropriate and request AUDA_NEPAD and AGNES to facilitate the process and enactment of Climate Laws to facilitate the implementation of climate policies and actions by the Parliaments.

Mobilization of resources for enhancing oversight and tracking of climate actions and implementation, particularly those provided under the GCF readiness Grants and other finance sources.

The Senate committee chair on Mines and Energy and Resources at the same time used the occasion to challenge his fellow Americans Lawmaker to build a stronger collaboration with Parliaments,the scientific community, Civil society, private sector, and the stakeholders in private sector.
