Compound, Margibi – In a significant step toward improving education in Margibi County, Senator J. Emmanuel Nuquay has officially broken ground for a six-classroom expansion project at Larkay-Ta Public School in district four, Compound Larkay–Ta Township.
The initiative which took place over the weekend aims to elevate the institution from a junior to a senior high school, addressing long-standing educational challenges in the area. During the groundbreaking ceremony, Senator Nuquay emphasized his commitment to development, stating, “We should not build for today; we must build for the future.” He highlighted that the project was not merely a political gesture but a fulfillment of a promise made to the community during his campaign.
The senator recalled that elevating Larkay-Ta Public School to senior high status was a key request from the community. He assured residents that this expansion would ensure students no longer have to travel long distances to complete their secondary education. “This is about giving you the voice and confidence to say, ‘We brought someone who delivers,’” he told the gathered crowd.

The project, fully funded through the senator’s development allocation, includes six new classrooms anex, designed to accommodate the growing student population. Senator Nuquay revealed that the contractor has already been paid in full, ensuring swift and uninterrupted construction. Senator Nuquay used the event to underscore his broader vision for development in Margibi County. He called on local leaders and citizens to collaborate on identifying key infrastructure needs, particularly the provision of safe drinking water. “We must work together beyond politics,” he stated. “Politics is for elections, but now is the time for development.” The senator also outlined other projects under his leadership, including an annex to a clinic in Yemen and the construction of a public high school in the 26 Gate community.
These projects, he noted, were part of his long-term strategy to enhance public services in the region. Senator J. Emmanuel Nuquay urged residents to actively monitor the construction process to prevent misuse of materials and to ensure that the project meets quality standards. “I have seen cases where people for whom a project is being built end up sabotaging it. We must all guard against this,” he warned.
He also encouraged unity among local authorities and community members, emphasizing that sustainable development could only be achieved through cooperation and shared responsibility. With the groundbreaking of the Larkay–Ta Public School expansion, Senator Nuquay reaffirmed his commitment to transforming education in Margibi County. “We are not just building classrooms; we are building a future for our children,” he said.
As construction begins, students, parents, and educators alike look forward to the completion of the project, which promises to open new opportunities for young learners in the region.
