Salala Rubber Corporation Halts Operation Following Destructive Protest

Kakata Margibi Co.– After a fatal uprising from workers that led to burning of properties, the Salala Rubber Corporations has halted all activities. The company’s management on may 29, 2024, released a notice to its worker, disclosing the closure of the company in the country, attributing it’s action to a recent protest that left properties including vehicles damaged.

“In the wake of recent illegal and violence strike action carried out by employees, in particular, on Thursday June 27, 2024, which led to the manhandling of senior Personnel and Staff, especially the general manager and one of the company’s superintendents, issuing of death threats, as well as the wanton destruction of properties by burning of senior Staff Residential Unit(s), the plantation Manager’s vehicle, smashing offices, setting fire on offices and looting, management hereby inform that the operation of the company is closed with immediate effect until otherwise.” the communication noted.

It can be recalled that aggrieved workers at the Salala Rubber Corporation in Margibi County, early June 27, 2024, went disgruntled, setting roadblocks, burned the company manager’s vehicle, allegedly broke into warehouse and made away with several bags of rice, citing salary delay, and bad labour practices as reasons to their action.
