Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has expressed profound sorrow following the death of Honorable Sumo G. Kupee, former Senator of Lofa County. In a statement from the Executive Mansion, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to Senator Kupee’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Senator Kupee, remembered as a dedicated public servant, was known for his unwavering commitment to the people of Lofa County and Liberia at large. Throughout his tenure in the Senate, he was a staunch advocate for significant legislative issues, including dual citizenship and the rights of Liberians living abroad to participate in elections through out-of-country voting.
President Boakai highlighted Senator Kupee’s tireless efforts in promoting development and progress, noting that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations committed to public service. He urged the nation to honor Senator Kupee’s memory by reflecting on his contributions and the positive impact he had on the lives of many Liberians.
