Accra, Ghana – Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai today held a high-level meeting with Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, in Accra, marking a pivotal moment for Liberia-Ghana relations.
President Boakai congratulated Mahama on his electoral victory, commending the democratic values upheld during Ghana’s recent election. He described the peaceful process as a powerful example for the region. “Your victory is a win for the people of Ghana and a beacon of hope for democracy in West Africa,” Boakai stated.
During their discussion, the two leaders explored opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas such as regional security, trade, climate change, and economic development. They underscored the importance of shared goals in driving progress within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
“As Ghana embarks on this new chapter, Liberia stands ready to strengthen our ties and collaborate on key regional and international priorities,” Boakai added.
President-elect Mahama expressed gratitude for Boakai’s visit and reiterated Ghana’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with its neighbors. He emphasized the significance of Liberia and Ghana working together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across West Africa.
This meeting reaffirmed the deep historical bonds between the two nations and highlighted their mutual dedication to addressing shared challenges. President Boakai returned to Liberia today, concluding his engagement in Ghana.
