Mystery Bloodstain Shuts Down Tubman High: Fear, Rumors, and Investigations Grip Campus

Sinkor, Monrovia – Classes were unexpectedly suspended at William V.S. Tubman High School on Thursday morning after a mysterious bloodstain was discovered near the school’s entrance, sending waves of confusion and fear across the campus. The unsettling find came just weeks into the new academic year, halting normal school operations.

Eyewitnesses say the blood appeared without warning early in the morning near the 12th Street gate. As word spread, panic grew among students and staff, prompting the school administration to shut down all academic activities until Monday, September 29.

“We were really shocked when we saw it,” said student Payvah Morlue. “No one knows what caused it. We’re just waiting to hear something official from the school.”

The Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), which oversees Tubman High, confirmed the closure and launched a formal investigation alongside the Liberia National Police.

Samuel Nyenuh, Director of Communications at MCSS, said early reports from campus security suggest the blood may be linked to a burglary attempt overnight. “The guards reported that some intruders were chased off the premises, and the blood might have come from one of them,” Nyenuh explained. “We’ve brought in the police to help uncover the truth.”

In a press statement issued later that day, MCSS expressed “serious concern” over the incident and asked the public to avoid jumping to conclusions or spreading unverified information.

“The Acting Superintendent, Dr. Augurie E. Stevens, visited the site to assess the situation firsthand and ensure safety measures are in place,” the statement said. “As a precaution, the school will remain closed until Sunday, September 28, with classes resuming the next day.”

While the official explanation leans toward criminal activity, whispers of a spiritual or ritualistic cause have spread rapidly among students. Some believe the blood was part of a targeted spiritual attack on a student.

“This felt different,” said one student, who asked not to be named. “One girl even predicted something bad would happen. Later, we went to Samuel Johnson’s house and found him with a deep cut on his hand. He said he stayed home because he felt spiritually threatened.”

Samuel Johnson, a Tubman High student, acknowledged the injury in a video circulating among students but didn’t share how he was hurt. “I just knew something was off, so I didn’t go to school,” he said in the clip.

Authorities have not confirmed any connection between the injury and the incident at the school. However, MCSS stressed that all findings from the investigation will be made public once completed.

“We understand the concern this has caused, especially so early in the school year,” Nyenuh said. “Our number one priority is student safety. We ask everyone to remain calm and let the investigation run its course.”
