Monrovia, Liberia– Medical Technology or Medtech is a Dubai based Company purportedly engaged in Medical supplies and hospital equipment shipments but on the other hand an illegitimate company that has been initiated to enriched some state actors and exploit Liberians. An independent Investigation by The People News Online has solidified six counts covering the intent of MedTech Company coming to Liberia.
The investigation has established that, MedTech is not a recognized Customs Inspection Company, rather a dubious entity intended to drive money to Liberia’s former head of state George Weah, through an associate identified as Ms. Angela List, a Girlfriend to Mr. Weah who resides in Accra, Ghana.
As part of the evil contract, the Company had promised to invest the amount of US$18 million for the construction of a destination inspection site, when it doesn’t have funds to invest. Despite this circumstances, notwithstanding, Medtech intends using cash flow from the project to undertake said construction thou it violates their own agreement.
The investigation however established that the controversial ten year concession agreement with this illegal entity (Medtech) didn’t meet ratification by the Legislature. This paper is reliably informed that MedTech is under FIA investigation for “money laundering and suspicious financial transaction”.
Who is to Benefit From the Criminal Deeds initiated During the Weah’s Administration?
As it stance, Ms. Angela who is reportedly Mr. Weah’s Secret lover is a 60% shareholder of MedTech which means that most of the money raise from this business goes to fund George Weah.
The findings further that Mr. Weah and his government had several of these arrangements to fund his life outside government while the common people perish in abject poverty.
What is the essence of Adapting an agreement that will have no impact in the life of the ordinary Liberian?
The action of Mr. Weah and the questionable Medtech contravenes several laws of the Republic. Every agreement of such should meet the approval of the Legislature.
If the Boakai’s administration is committed to fighting corruption, there should be an immediate halt to the entity’s destination inspection as well as to revisit the status of the company permit in the country.
To put an instantaneous halt to Medtech destination inspection will enable the Boakai administration to review and revisit the company’s permit to avert the country of being robbed of taxes and other benefits.
The people news investigation has established that Medtech operation in Liberia is illegal, illicit, hazardous and they (Medtech) have not met the legal standards both with the Legislature and the Executive.
