MARINE STRIKERS MARCH ON: LiMA Edge LTA on Penalties to Keep Title Defence Alive

The Marine Strikers of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) are through to the next round of the Intra-Governmental League after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout victory over a stubborn Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA).

In the knockout cracker played Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville, both sides fought like lions but could not find the back of the net in regulation time. It was defence vs defence, 0-0, 90 minutes of tension.

It had to be decided from 12 yards — and there, the champions showed class.

Under Head Coach Darlington Michael Cheeks, the Marine Strikers kept their cool, held their nerve, and slotted home to dump LTA out of the competition.

With this hard-fought win, LiMA has sent a clear warning: the trophy is not leaving the Maritime house that easily. The quest for back-to-back titles is alive, momentum is high, and the Strikers are sailing full-speed into the next round.
