Liberian Government urges Ex- President Weah to Control Supporters Against Violence amid Saturday’s uproar at the RIA

Monrovia, Liberia – The government of Liberia through its Minister of Information Jerolinmek Matthew Piah has warned Former Liberian leader George M. Weah to ably control his supporters (Cdians) against violence in the country, emphasizing that their action undermines the peace of the country.

The caveat from Minister Piah comes after supporters of former president Weah went to welcome him at the Roberts International Airport, a situation that later went violent, posing threats to other commercial travelers who has a schedule flight at the weekend.

According to the government spokesperson, supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change had early threatened to burndown the country only airport if the ex. Liberian Leader wasn’t given access to the VIP Louge.

He highlighted that the “violent Crowd” forcibly find their way to the walk along at the airport, creating havoc and grossly violating international aviation laws.

The numerous threats from the supporters of the former President prompted the intervention of the already assigned Armed Forces Personnel at the airport including officers of the Liberia National Police and the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) to calm the growing tension, He recounted.

The Government Spokesman however urged Montserrado District Fifteen Representative Abu Banah Kamara and Representative Frank Saah Foko of district nine Montserrado as national Leaders to lead by example and not to undermine the Peace and security of the State.

He cautioned former President Weah to advice his followers to refrain form engaging in activities that threatens the peace of the country.
