Liberia National Police Reinforces UN Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan

In a significant move to bolster international peace efforts, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has dispatched six additional officers to South Sudan as part of the United Nations peacekeeping mission. The officers were formally sent off during a ceremony held on Monday at LNP Headquarters in Monrovia.

According to a release issued on Monday August 12, 2024, The team comprises Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lewis Kamayee Chede, Chief Inspectors of Police (CIP) Francis T. Tarwin and Bangaly Abrahim Saysay, Inspectors of Police (Insp) Mercy Siah Tamba and Jesse Lavoisier Towouh, and Corporal of Police (Clp) Catherine Conmontonn Gbezial.

Police IG Coleman during the ceremony underscored the importance of the mission, urging the officers to exemplify the highest standards of ethics and community-focused policing. He emphasized that their performance will be a reflection of the LNP’s commitment to professionalism and international cooperation.

The released further quotes “With this latest deployment, the number of LNP officers in South Sudan now totals ten.” This expansion reaffirms the LNP’s ongoing dedication to supporting global peace and stability initiatives.
