Liberia National Police Pledges Swift Justice: One-Week Ultimatum in Death of CDC Member Joshua Solomon

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has committed to delivering justice within one week for the death of Joshua Solomon, a member of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC). The deceased was reportedly severely beaten by an enraged crowd during electoral violence in the 72nd community.

During a press conference at the LNP headquarters, H. Moses Carter, the LNP Spokesman, assured the public and the media that the police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Solomon’s death. Solomon, a 34-year-old national pageant trainer at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism, succumbed to internal bleeding resulting from aggravated assault during a riot on August 11, 2023.

Carter emphasized the police’s commitment to transparency, stating, “We would like to say to Liberians that we are not going to sweep anything under the carpet as it relates to the unscrupulous act that led to the death of Joshua Solomon.” He further disclosed that the police possess video footage capturing the incident scenes, which will aid in the investigation.

The LNP Spokesperson urged the public’s cooperation in reaching a logical conclusion within the set one-week period. Quoting doctors’ reports, Carter confirmed that Solomon’s cause of death was internal bleeding. He assured the public that justice would be served as the police work diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for the tragic incident.
