Monrovia, Liberia – The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) is set to launch Liberia’s first Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System, a digital platform aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement.
The official launch ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, beginning at 10 AM. The event will be graced by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, who will deliver the keynote address and formally mandate the use of the e-GP system across government institutions.
According to the PPCC, the e-GP system has already been developed, tested, and deployed in six public sector institutions. This year, it is expected to be expanded to 50 additional institutions, reinforcing confidence in the procurement process and ensuring value-for-money principles in public spending.
The new digital system is integrated with key online platforms, including the Liberia Revenue Authority’s tax payment portal and the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation’s online platform. There are also plans for further integration in 2025, including links to the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), Liberia Business Registry, and other payment gateways.
PPCC officials emphasize that this initiative aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen procurement laws, improve financial management, and support economic development.
Stakeholders from government agencies, business entities, and civil society have been encouraged to attend the launch and embrace the transition to digital procurement, which is expected to curb corruption and promote greater accountability in public financial management.
The PPCC has urged all institutions to fully adopt the e-GP system and support Liberia’s journey toward a more transparent and accountable governance framework.
