
Brussels, Belgium – Liberia Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ambassador Robert Wilmont Kpadeh, met today with Fotini Ioannidou, Director for Waterborne Transport at the European Commission, to explore deeper cooperation between Liberia and European nations on global maritime affairs.
Held in Brussels, the meeting focused on building stronger partnerships around shared maritime interests. The discussion covered areas of mutual concern, including sustainable shipping, regulatory collaboration, and innovation in maritime transport.
Ambassador Kpadeh described the engagement as “timely and constructive,” noting both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration.
Madam Ioannidou expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed Liberia’s willingness to play a more active role in shaping maritime policy discussions that affect both Europe and West Africa.
The meeting reflects a growing effort by Liberia to strengthen international maritime ties, with an eye toward shared development, safety, and environmental stewardship in the shipping sector.
