By Capitol Hill, Monrovia–Deputy Speaker J Fonati Koffa has debunked aligation against him by outgoing speaker Bhofal Chambers of representing the interest of top institutions as their Lawyers which violates conflicts of interest.
He Lamented that the assertions against him by speaker Chambers such as he Rep. Koffa “representing the interest of CBL, Arcelor Millta, Bea Mountain, Maritime and others” are false and misleading.
Speaking during a Major Press conference at his Capital Building Office on Tuesday December 26, 2023 the Grand Kru county Lawmaker disclosed that he resigned as head of International Law groups moment he got appointed as Minister of State Without Profodol during the second tenure of former President Ellen Sirleaf in 2016, giving the task to one of his clients.
Giving the benefit of the doubt, Cllr. Koffa who is seeking for the Speakership Post at the 55th National Legislature reviled that “at no time he ever represented any of the said institutions as Lawyer as alleged by Head of the House of Representative.
He further disclosed that the accusations from his colleague against him has been forwarded to CDC Chairman Mulbah Morlu to investigate the speaker.
What appears to be “Conflict of Interest” has existed amongst the two top official of the House of Representatives since the outgoing Speaker Bhofal Chambers made and accusations against his housemate for understanding his Job.
