Monrovia, Liberia – The General Auditing Commission (GAC) report has unveiled serious allegations of financial misconduct against Cllr. Cooper Kruah, who served as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications under former President George Weah’s administration.
Cllr. Kruah, who held the post for over five years, was dismissed after attending a ceremony for his party’s Standard Bearer, Jeremiah Kpan Koung.
The 2024 GAC audit reveals that USD 1.67 million and LRD 41.6 million were disbursed without supporting documentation. The audit’s findings indicate a pattern of noncompliance and mismanagement. Kruah, who has previously faced controversy over alleged unethical practices as a lawyer, is now under scrutiny once again.
In a separate case, Cllr. Kruah was found guilty by the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court for diverting USD 58,814.08 from a client, the Mano River Agriculture Rehabilitation & Development Corporation (MARDCO), into his personal account.
These revelations come at a critical time as the Liberian government faces increased scrutiny over governance issues, intensifying calls for accountability among public officials. The GAC audit’s implications could have significant repercussions for Kruah’s political career and the administration’s credibility.
