Koffa’s Office Reports Over US$1M, L$22.7M in Constituency Projects

CAPITOL HILL, Monrovia, — The Office of Representative J. Fonati Koffa has published a detailed legacy and development report documenting more than US$1 million and L$22.7 million in constituency interventions across infrastructure, health, education, and community programs.

The report, released Friday, puts total expenditures at US$1,046,237 and LRD 22,764,000, covering completed and ongoing projects in several communities within the district.

Infrastructure Takes Largest Share

Infrastructure projects account for the biggest portion of spending at US$348,795 and LRD 3,000,000. The office said school construction and renovation projects in Bolloh, Buah, and Sasstown have been completed at 100 percent.

Other infrastructure work includes streetlight installations in multiple communities to improve nighttime safety, hand pumps in Barclayville, telecommunications assessment for network expansion, and contributions toward rural road rehabilitation.

Health, Education Spending Detailed

The health sector received US$74,700, which funded generators for hospitals in Grandcess and Sasstown, COVID-19 response assistance, and fuel support to the Buah Health Center.

Education interventions totaled US$28,453 and LRD 3,670,000. Programs covered volunteer teacher stipends, district scholarship schemes, teacher training support, and academic enrichment activities including debate and quiz competitions. The office said the interventions were aimed at strengthening teaching and learning outcomes.

Community Engagement, Women Empowerment

Community engagement recorded the highest expenditure category at US$396,289 and LRD 12,042,000. The report lists assistance to storm-affected residents, support to religious institutions, provision of generators and chairs to communities, and welfare support for funerals, illness cases, and local events. Independence and holiday support packages were also distributed across several districts.

For women empowerment, LRD 3,000,000 was allocated to support women’s groups and loan schemes in Baforwin, Doeswen, and surrounding communities to promote small-scale enterprise and financial inclusion.

Sports, Institutional Support

Sports programs received LRD 2,370,000, supporting local football clubs, academies, and contributions linked to the 2019 County Meet victory.

Lobbying and institutional support accounted for US$198,000 and LRD 3,452,000, funding infrastructure advocacy, communication equipment, school renovation projects, and other institutional initiatives.

Transparency Drive

The office said the report reflects “sustained development efforts aimed at improving living conditions and expanding access to basic services across the district.”

It added that the publication is intended to “enhance transparency and provide constituents with a clear overview of development spending and implementation outcomes over the reporting period.”
