By Salayea, Lofa–Following a controversial report over the abstraction of $US500 out of the 2,200 United States Dollars allotted to Salayea district for President Boakai’s inaugural Celebration, District five representative August B. Chiewolo has justified reason for taking away the said amount.
“Let people understand that Lofians are living in town here, these are people that make things happen and not only my one.” he asserted.
Speaking to reporter on the matter, the Lawmaker asserted that his decision came in a dying minutes and was later acknowledged that the amount in question be given to supporters of the UP Zorzor and Salayea Based in Bong and Monrovia. He added that he Rep. Chiewolo received the cash of $5,200 USD a day to the inauguration ceremony and was engaged by partisans of the UP from both districts but basing in Bong and Monrovia relatives to getting their share of the program money.
Further lamenting on the fund disbursement between the two districts, the representative noted that Zorzor district received three thousand United States Dollars while Salayea got the sum of One thousand Seven hundred USD which he converted into LRD at the rate of 193 and delivered.
“The money we signed for was $5,200 Dollars, I drove to Lofa county and on my way there are some concern citizens, people who really been behind the Unity Party, pushing the party up to the time we won. They all had called me and said we are not able to go so we need something so we ourselves can site here and have some fine time” he explained.
Despite the claims against his decision by some citizens, Mr. Chiewolo cautioned heads of the UP in Zorzor and Salayea who received the Presidential Inauguration celebration fund to give an account.
According to the Lofa District five legislator, the intent of the controversial report over his action is politically driven, something he condemned while underscored reconsideration as the way forward.
