Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of Liberia has officially presented its draft national budget for Fiscal Year 2026, amounting to US$1.2 billion, to the House of Representatives.
Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan made the submission on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Friday, November 7, 2025, during a formal presentation to House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon.
Minister Ngafuan described the budget as a significant milestone, noting that it draws heavily from the performance of the current fiscal year. “It is my distinct honor to present the draft budget for FY 2026 — a historic one informed by revenue trends and expenditure priorities over the first half of the ongoing fiscal year,” he stated.
He added that the proposed budget seeks to strengthen fiscal discipline while ensuring that critical national priorities are adequately funded.
Receiving the document, Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon commended the Ministry for its timely submission and confirmed that the communication would be forwarded to the House’s Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance for detailed scrutiny.
“The draft budget will undergo proper legislative review to ensure it reflects the needs and aspirations of the Liberian people,” Speaker Koon assured.
