By Monrovia, Liberia – Amid mounting pressure from Lofa County Health Team, Minister of Health Dr. Louis Kpoto has appointed Dr. Moses Weidehgar as new County Health Officer .
Minister Kpoto made the decision on Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2024, following immense pressure from members of the county health team who were against her previous appointment.
Since the Minister’s decision to appoint Dr. Raphael in the last two months, the majority members of the County Health Team rejected the appointment over allegations of the appointee Poor working relationship experienced during his time of service as a medical doctor at Kolahun only referral hospital.
The unaborted Protest action by the aggrieved health workers for the past three days has been the driving force behind the withdrawal of Dr. Shamavu and new subsequent appointment.
However, Dr. Weidehagar as new administrator of the Lofa County Health Team, has joyfully accepted his appointment attributing it to hard works, commitment and contributions he had offered to the Health sector of Liberia over the period.
Dr. Weidehgar has served as medical Director of the Liberian Government Hospital and County Health Officer of Grand Bassa County Health Team during the administration of former President Weah. He expressed his commitment in using his expertise to contribute immensely to the Health Sector of Lofa County as was accomplished in Bassa before his transfered.
