Former War Lord Turned Evangelist Butt Naked Calls for Establishment of War Crimes Court in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – Evangelist Joshua Milton Blayee, also known as “Butt Naked,” a former warlord turned evangelist, is strongly advocating for the establishment of a war crimes court in Liberia. Blayee expressed deep remorse for his involvement in the brutal Liberian civil war, which resulted in the deaths of over 25,000 Liberians. He emphasized the need for accountability and justice, asserting that the days of impunity for those who committed atrocities during the war should come to an end.

Blayee, a staunch supporter of former Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, urged the nation to reckon with its painful past and establish a war crimes court. He acknowledged that while he was recommended for amnesty by the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (LTRC), he still believed the punishment was not sufficient for his actions. In response, he has committed himself to community service through his initiatives, “Journey Against Violence (JAV)” and “Proud Liberian Against Drug Abuse (PLADA),” where he operates a rehabilitation center.

The rehabilitation center, led by Blayee, focuses on the recovery and training of disadvantaged youth, often referred to as “Zoko.” It provides vocational education in fields such as tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, and fashion design. Blayee emphasized that many Liberians continue to suffer from the trauma of the senseless war and are seeking justice. He called for the establishment of a war crimes court as a crucial step toward addressing the unresolved pain and holding individuals accountable for their actions during the conflict.

The passionate plea by Evangelist Butt Naked underscores the ongoing dialogue regarding the need for justice and reconciliation in Liberia, as the nation grapples with its complex history and strives to move toward a more just and accountable future.
