MONROVIA– The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia, Emmanuel Gonquoi, has submitted his resignation from the assets recovery team, alleging a serious lack of leadership in the organization. Gonquoi conveyed a lack of trust in the group that President Boakai assembled, suggesting that this shortcoming has limited the efficiency of their work.
He underlined that President Boakai must reassemble the assets recovery team with the inclusion of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and other integrity organizations. Even though he suggested taking this move to balance the team’s makeup, his recommendations were not followed.
He also emphasized that certain members of the current team do not have the requisite experience in asset recovery, and he suggested that the team would be better off reaching its goals if it were reconstituted with people who are experts in the subject.
