President Boakai 2nd State of the Nation Address scheduled for today Monday up Capitol Hill will be greeted with a mass protest in Voinjama, Lofa County, as citizens under the banner Action Committee with the solidarity of local residents, prepare to stage a protest over series of unexplained death in the region in recent weeks.
In a press conference held today in Voinjama City, the group announced that thousands of residents will gather at designated sites to mourn the victims and call for urgent government intervention.
Protesters from Duwoigomai Town and neighboring areas are set to assemble in John’s Town, where they will visit the locations of the tragic incidents to pay their respects.
According to Augustine F. Zayzay, spokesperson for the committee, the demonstration seeks to draw national attention to the worsening security situation in Lofa County. “We can no longer remain silent.
These killings have left our communities in fear and grief, and the lack of resources for law enforcement only worsens the situation,” Zayzay said.
The protest follows three high-profile deaths in January that have raised alarm among residents. On January 3, 2025, the body of 45-year-old Moyongor Keleko was discovered in Duwoigomai Town.
On January 7, 2025, a man identified as Moisemai was found dead in a police holding cell under unclear circumstances.

Most recently, on January 26, 2025, Siah John, who went missing the previous day, was found dead with gruesome injuries that shocked the community.
A 15-member jury investigating Siah John’s case reported horrifying findings, including deep cuts around her navel, neck, and waist, along with other signs of violence.

The Citizens’ Action Committee is demanding immediate intervention from the national government. They have called for increased logistical support for police officers stationed in Lofa, citing that the current police force is under-resourced. The county’s police commander reportedly relies on an aging vehicle that requires a push to start, severely hindering efforts to combat crime.
As the citizens of Lofa County prepare to take to the streets, their voices are expected to resonate far beyond the region. All eyes will now turn to President Boakai’s address to see if the national government will respond to the growing crisis.
