Monrovia, Liberia – After significant delays, the draft Fiscal Year 2025 National Budget has finally been presented to the National Legislature. The budget, totaling US$851.8 million, was formally submitted through the Chief Clerk to the Presiding Officer of the House of Representatives. The budget is broken down into Core Revenue of US$833 million and Contingent Revenue of US$18.8 million.

This draft budget represents a 15.3% increase over the 2024 Recast Budget’s total appropriation of US$738.9 million. It is designed to fund critical priorities outlined in the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), as well as meet the government’s debt obligations and other financial commitments.

President Joseph Boakai has called on lawmakers to act swiftly and efficiently to review and approve the budget, emphasizing the importance of its timely adoption for the effective implementation of government programs starting in January 2025.

The submission complies with Section 17.1 of the 2019 Amendment and Restatement of the Public Financial Management Act, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols.

This marks a significant step in Liberia’s fiscal planning as the government prepares for the upcoming year’s financial commitments and development priorities.
