Big Story: President Weah Concedes Defeat, Congratulates Ex VP Boakai, Promises to Resurface 2029

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia’s President, H.E. George Manneh Weah has congratulated Former Vice President and major rival Joseph N. Boakai as winner of the 2023 presidential runoff election.

According to the head of state, he has called Mr. Boakai via telephone following the announcement of provisional results by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on Friday, November 17, 2023.

As per NEC Preliminary results pronouncement, Amb. Boakai leads incumbent president 50.89% against 49.11% out of 99.58 percent results.

The Liberian Chief Executive further described the victory of the former VP as a win for Liberians

He therefore called on his supporters to accept the results despite the final results has not been made.

President Weah defeated the former Liberian Vice president and now leader of the Unity Party in the 2017 emerging the soccer style as the as winner.
