Monrovia, Liberia – Mrs. Nancy Scott, the mother of Theophilus P. Scott, a dedicated Liberian student pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Rwanda, has issued an impassioned appeal to the Government of Liberia and the international community for urgent assistance to save her son’s life. Theophilus, 23 years old and a senior student at a Rwandan University, was suddenly struck by a severe illness, compelling his mother to reach out for help.
Speaking with an air of desperation at her residence on 16 Street, Mrs. Scott shared her family’s story with The People’s News. She expressed the critical condition her son is facing and the dire need for financial support to cover the substantial medical expenses. Mrs. Scott is engaged in the sale of “cookboard” to sustain her family’s daily needs, particularly as her husband is currently unemployed.
In 2020, Theophilus Scott set out on his educational journey in Rwanda with the goal of advancing his studies. Late Friday evening, Mrs. Scott received a distressing call from Rwanda informing her that her son had fallen seriously ill and had been rushed to a local hospital by a guardian he relied upon in the country.
Mrs. Scott recounted that Rwandan medical professionals have diagnosed Theophilus with kidney failure, a dire condition requiring immediate medical intervention to avert potentially fatal consequences. The urgency of the situation has left her family grappling with a substantial medical bill totaling four thousand United States dollars (USD $4,000), a sum that must be settled promptly to initiate her son’s life-saving treatment. “I am earnestly appealing to the compassion of individuals within and beyond Liberia to please come forward and assist me in expeditiously covering my son’s hospital expenses,” Mrs. Scott implored with tears in her eyes. She provided the following contact numbers, urging those willing to contribute to reach out: +231886852894 and +231881310676
