Morocco request rescheduling of their match against Liberia

According to the latest reports from beIN Sports, the Moroccan FA have requested that Saturday’s match against Liberia be postponed following the earthquake that hit the country hard on Friday night.

Morocco suffered one of the most tragic earthquakes in its history. More than 800 people lost their lives in a magnitude 7 earthquake that struck several towns in the country.

The Moroccan federation then made an official request to postpone the match against Liberia, which was due to take place on Saturday evening (21:00 GMT+2) as part of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to ‘beIN Sports’.

The match has nothing at stake, as it is the last game in a group in which Morocco are already assured of qualification and Liberia have been eliminated. The match was scheduled to take place in Agadir, a long way from the epicentre of the earthquake, but where tremors were still felt.

Even the Spanish team Real Madrid have issued a statement expressing their condolences to the families of those who died in the earthquakes.
