It was smooth sailing for the Liberia Maritime Authority on the basketball court.
The Marine Shooters booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Intra Governmental Sports League after a commanding 24-14 win over the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Basketball Gymnasium in Paynesville.
From the first quarter, LiMA showed they meant business. The Shooters controlled the tempo with quick transitions, accurate shooting, tight defence and brilliant ball movement that kept LLA under pressure all game long.
The crowd — mostly LiMA employees who turned the gymnasium into a sea of cheers — roared with every basket as the Marine Shooters stretched the lead and never looked back.
The 10-point thrashing is another statement of intent from the Marine Shooters, who have been consistent, disciplined and resilient throughout the tournament.
The victory also highlights LiMA’s broader campaign in this year’s league, proving that teamwork, wellness and competitive spirit are part of the Authority’s culture both on and off the court.
Next up: the quarterfinals. And with this form, the Marine Shooters look ready to shoot all the way to the championship.
