Tragic Accident Halts President Weah’s Campaign Activities

Monrovia, Liberia- In a deeply sorrowful turn of events, President George Weah has announced the suspension of all his campaign activities for a two-day mourning period following the tragic deaths of at least three members of his family while on a campaign tour in Bong County on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A press release issued by the CDC National Campaign Team Manager, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, confirmed that the three individuals, all daughters of President Weah, lost their lives in a devastating motor accident during the campaign tour.

In response to this heart-wrenching loss, President Weah has called on all supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the people of Liberia to join him in prayer for the grieving families and for the peaceful repose of the departed souls. Additionally, he has requested that supporters and fellow citizens gather at the Coalition for Democratic Change headquarters in Congo Town on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, to collectively mourn the lives tragically lost. This somber moment serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the profound impact of such a tragic loss on a national leader and his supporters.

This tragedy has cast a pall over Liberia’s political landscape, prompting a collective outpouring of condolences and sympathy for President Weah and his family during this difficult period.
