The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) internal wrangling is far from been over, as Mr. Joseph O. Sayon, one of its reporters has been sacked over allegations of gross misconduct.

In a strongly worded letter dated January 23, 2025, Director General Hon. Eugene L. Fahngon accused Sayon of making defamatory statements and spreading false information that has brought public ridicule to the organization.

According to the letter, Sayon allegedly claimed Fahngon increased his weekly allowance to $1,500 USD and failed to provide insurance for workers. Further accusations include claims of payroll padding, staff mistreatment, and refusal to pay death benefits. LBS labeled these allegations as breaches of professional ethics and violations of Civil Service Agency guidelines.

Sayon’s termination highlights growing tensions within Liberia’s public service institutions as they navigate challenges of accountability and transparency. This move by LBS sends a clear message about its commitment to upholding organizational standards.
