Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Health has officially declared October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a dedicated initiative aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and providing support for those affected by the disease.

Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto emphasized the ministry’s commitment to empowering citizens with vital information and resources to safeguard their health. “This month is an opportunity for us to educate the public on the importance of early detection and prevention,” Dr. Kpoto stated. “We encourage everyone to participate in annual screenings and self-examinations, as these practices are crucial in the fight against cancer.”

The campaign aims to inform individuals about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage regular check-ups, and foster a supportive community for those impacted by the disease.

As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Health will organize various outreach programs and educational sessions throughout the month to ensure that all citizens are informed and equipped to take proactive steps in protecting their health.

“Together, we can combat breast cancer and work towards a healthier future for all,” Dr. Kpoto affirmed, urging everyone to take an active role in raising awareness and supporting those affected.

The Ministry’s focus on education and prevention underscores the critical importance of addressing breast cancer in Liberia, aiming to reduce stigma and encourage open discussions about women’s health.
