Liberia: Sando Denies Claims of Former Chief Justice Unlawful Release From Prison

Monrovia, Liberia – Deputy Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Daniel O Sando has vehemently denied recent reports in local dailies regarding the release of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and others from the Monrovia Central Prison.

It can be recalled in 2023 Criminal Court (C) found former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott and three others guilty and were sentenced to life imprisonment for the Murder of the late Chaloe Musu.

At MICAT regular press briefing held earlier today, Minister Sando described the information as false and misleading, aiming to misinform the public.

Minister Sando disclosed that few months ago, there were burglary at the former chief justice Virginia residents in District # 17, when several items were reported stolen.

Following that incident, Madam Scott requested the Ministry of Justice to take her at her home to identify the items that were stolen to be identify for speedy trial.

The reports claimed that former Chief Justice Scott, along with several other high-profile individuals, had been released from prison on bail. However, Minister Sando refuted these claims, stating that there is no truth to the rumors circulating in the media.

“We want to make it clear that there has been no such release of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott or any other individuals from the Monrovia Central Prison. These claims are completely fabricated and are malicious attempts to sow confusion and spread misinformation,” Minister Sando declared.

He went on to urge members of the public to be cautious of the information they consume and to verify the sources of news before spreading it further. Minister Sando emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable reporting in maintaining a peaceful and stable society.

The Deputy Minister also assured the public that the Ministry of Information is working diligently to combat the spread of false information and fake news. He encouraged citizens to report any suspicious or misleading information to the authorities for investigation.

In conclusion, Minister Sando reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served fairly and transparently. He urged the media to adhere to professional standards and to verify their facts before publishing any news stories.
