Liberia: Civil Law Court compels former ruling CDC eviction from its National Headquarters in Congo Town

Congo Town, Liberia_ The Congress for Democratic Change is compelled by a Writ of Eviction issued by the Civil Law Court to vacate the premises that is currently hosting its national headquarters.

The Former Ruling Party has been mandated to evacuate from its national headquarters in Congo Town following an Order of Eviction issued by the Civil Law Court on March 7, 2024.

The Writ of Eviction follows the Supreme Court’s ruling, which upheld the lower court’s decision to rule against the party in the ejection procedure given rise to by Ebrima Varney Dempster representing Martha Stubblefield Bernard.

The sheriff was directed by Judge Golda Elliott’s with a Writ of Possession to remove the accused, (Congress for Democratic Change), from the organization’s offices in the area.

Meanwhile, if the administrators of the CDC headquarters do not settle their obligations with the plaintiff which is the payment of over US$54,000 and over L$13,000 as rental charge for the property used, they however risk admittance into custody as per the court’s instruction.

The Court action comes barely two months, after the CDC turn over state authority to the Unity Party.

Nancy Freddy Bernard Freeman and the late William Thomas Archibald L. Bernard both possess the land that the CDC occupies.
