Actor John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, had one of his legs amputated in order to preserve his life, according to a recent statement from his family.
It was revealed in October that the seasoned actor was unwell and needed money to help pay for his medical care.
The actor announced he had undergone seven successful surgeries, including the amputation of one leg, in an attempt to prolong his life in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Monday.
It said, “Good afternoon, Nigerians,” in the statement. We want to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported our dad; to say that we are appreciative would be an understatement. The good Lord alone could not possibly express how much we appreciate all of your assistance.
“As of 1:00 PM today, Daddy has had seven successful surgeries; however, one of his legs had to be amputated in order to preserve his life and improve his prognosis.
We’ve all had to deal with this difficult change, but in order to keep Daddy alive, we had to accept it as his new reality.
“Please, Daddy still needs all the help he can receive at this point, so we are still asking well-meaning Nigerians for their support.
“The Okafor family is thankful and does not take you for granted. Thank you, everyone. As soon as he is stable, Daddy will personally thank everyone who helped him throughout this time.
