MONROVIA, Liberia — The Civil Service Agency is betting on media credibility to fix its public image. In a strategic move, CSA has appointed award-winning broadcast journalist Varflay Kamara as Director of Communications and Public Relations, signaling a shift toward professional, transparent messaging across government.
Kamara brings more than a decade of broadcast experience, most of it at the Liberia Broadcasting System where he served as Director of News, Director of Public Affairs, Executive Mansion and Legislative Reporter, and Lead Talk-Show presenter at ELBC. Colleagues credit him with raising ELBC’s profile into a credible platform for national debate on governance. He joined CSA earlier this year as Senior Communications Consultant before the latest promotion.
The appointment is backed by a strong track record and training. Kamara has received media and diplomatic training in Ghana, Nigeria, China, and the U.S., and specializes in strategic communication, crisis management, multimedia production, and organizational branding. His trophy case includes 2025/2026 National Broadcast Journalist of the Year from the Liberia Broadcaster Association, multiple LBS Employee of the Year honors, and 2019/2020 Executive Mansion Reporter of the Year from the Press Union of Liberia.
CSA says the hire aligns with management’s vision for a “robust, effective, and efficient” communications arm. With Kamara’s established ties to national and international media and a reputation built on integrity and service, the Agency is positioning itself to communicate policy clearly, manage public narratives, and restore trust with civil servants and citizens alike.
