Following days of dialogue between Liberia and Guinea of border dispute, Reports emerging from Foya District in Lofa County indicate that armed soldiers believed to be from Guinea crossed the Makona River early Tuesday morning and allegedly planted their national flag at the Sorlumba Port of Entry in Sorlumba Town.
Local residents say the soldiers are currently laying planks along the waterside area, a move many believe is aimed at establishing temporary structures at the border point.
The reported incursion has triggered fear and uncertainty among residents of the border community, particularly amid claims that no Liberian security personnel are presently on the ground to address the situation.
Authorities in Liberia have yet to issue an official statement as the situation continues to unfold.
