
The second Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Stephanie Koung, Wife of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has dedicated the newly renovated and refurbished office of the Group of 77 to the leadership and members of the disabled community.
In a heartfelt ceremony, Madam Koung highlighted the importance of inclusivity and accessibility for all individuals, including those with disabilities.
The Group of 77, a coalition of developing countries in the United Nations, now boasts a state-of-the-art office space equipped with ramps, wider doorways, and other accommodations to ensure that all members can participate fully in meetings and activities.
Madam Koung’s dedication to advocating for the rights and needs of the disabled community has earned her praise from both government officials and disability rights activists.
Her gesture serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of creating spaces that are welcoming and inclusive for all individuals, regardless of their abilities.
The wife of the Vice President has vowed to continue advocating for people living with disability to create empowerment programs such as sewing, baking, tailoring, tye-dye, interior decoration and many other programs of empowerment in the society.
For their part, the joyous disabled community was overwhelmed and narrated that for the past 18 years, it was the first time for a sitting head of the group of 77 to ever pay them an official visit at their premises. They expressed joy and promised to always support Madame Koung in every endeavor.
