Kru Town, Grand Cape Mount County – Heartbreak and devastation have gripped Kru Town in Tewor District after a massive fire on October 16, 2025, left more than 100 residents homeless, destroying homes, belongings, and sources of livelihood in a single night.
The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) made a passionate appeal for emergency assistance on its official Facebook page, urging Liberians and humanitarian partners to rally behind the affected families — most of whom are women and children now sleeping in the open.
According to the Red Cross, the blaze consumed entire clusters of houses, leaving survivors with nothing but the clothes on their backs. “The tragedy has left families homeless and struggling to survive,” the organization said, describing the destruction as one of the worst community fires in recent months.
The Red Cross is mobilizing relief aid including food, clean water, clothing, sleeping mats, blankets, and temporary shelters. The organization also plans to help victims rebuild their homes and restore their livelihoods.
“We’re calling on the public to show compassion,” the statement read. “Every contribution — big or small — makes a real difference.”
Donations can be sent via Mobile Money at 0881362289 / 0779917420 or through the Red Cross Ecobank Account: 6101748542. Those wishing to donate materials can call 0777590809 for coordination.
As recovery efforts begin, the Red Cross has vowed to stand by the community until normalcy is restored. “Together,” the agency said, “we can help the people of Kru Town rebuild their lives and restore hope.”
