State prosecutors have formally requested Criminal Court “A” at the First Judicial Circuit Court to transfer a major arson case out of Montserrado County, citing concerns that intense media exposure and alleged external interference could compromise the fairness of the trial.
The case involves more than a dozen defendants indicted in late 2025 on charges including arson and attempted murder, and has attracted significant public attention nationwide.
Prosecutors argue that repeated public commentary and media engagement by some of the accused risk influencing potential jurors, making it difficult to ensure an impartial proceeding if the trial remains in Montserrado.
