The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) has launched a workshop aimed at strengthening the execution of the Fiscal Year 2025 National Budget. The event, taking place at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex, seeks to equip policymakers and technical staff from spending entities with the necessary knowledge and tools to ensure effective budget management.

The workshop focuses on refreshing and deepening participants’ understanding of fiscal rules, budget execution procedures, monitoring, and reporting. It aims to enhance the capacity of spending entities to use public funds efficiently and responsibly, ensuring they address citizens’ needs while aligning with the government’s broader development goals.

A statement from the MFDP outlined the workshop’s objectives, including ensuring the FY2025 budget is executed in accordance with the approved National Budget, strengthening understanding of fiscal policies and procedures, promoting timely financial and performance reporting, and fostering better coordination across ministries to improve accountability in public fund management.

The event brings together 596 participants, including officials from 108 spending entities. The first two days are dedicated to all participants, while the final day will focus on spending entities tasked with implementing government projects.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery through responsible financial management and efficient execution of development programs.
