‎Liberian Senate Confirms Cornelia W. Kruah as Youth and Sports Minister After Presidential Reshuffle

‎Monrovia, Liberia  — The Liberian Senate has confirmed Cornelia W. Kruah as Liberia’s new Minister of Youth and Sports following a decisive vote of 20 senators in favor of her appointment.

‎Kruah, who previously served as Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, was nominated earlier in February 2026 by President Joseph Boakai as part of a broader cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and revitalizing key sectors of government.

‎Her confirmation now positions her to take full leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where she is expected to focus on youth empowerment, sports development, and institutional reforms.

‎The nomination of Kruah came during the President’s recent restructuring of his administration intended to improve performance across ministries and address growing public expectations for results-driven leadership. Her appointment fills the post following the departure of the outgoing Youth and Sports Minister, whose replacement was part of the reshuffle process announced by the Executive Mansion.

‎Kruah brings years of administrative and public service experience to the role, having played a key part in coordinating executive functions at the presidency and managing institutional operations at the Ministry of State.

‎Political observers say her confirmation signals the administration’s intent to prioritize youth inclusion and sports as vehicles for national development, particularly at a time when unemployment among young people and declining sports infrastructure remain major public concerns.

‎With her confirmation secured, Kruah is expected to be officially commissioned in the coming days before outlining her policy direction and reform agenda for Liberia’s youth and sports sector.
